Remember these for months, not days

Printed cards don't know what you're about to forget. Space Repeat shows each card right before you would forget it, so a few minutes a day is enough. Sign up and these cards become your first deck, ready to study. Free during the beta.

How it works

  1. 1

Paste your notes with one card per line, like "Term - Definition", or copy two columns from a spreadsheet. Tabs, dashes, colons and commas all work, and the separator is detected for you.

  2. 2

Check the preview and fix any card by editing it directly, or add and remove cards.

  3. 3

Download a CSV for Excel, Google Sheets or another flashcard app, or print the cards and fold each one along the dashed line.

  4. 4

To actually remember them, study them in Space Repeat: it schedules each card right before you would forget it.

How to write flashcards that stick

One fact per card. "Mitochondria - produces ATP" is easy to check. A card that asks for three things at once is hard to rate honestly, so the weak part never gets the extra practice it needs.

Use your own words. Copying a sentence from the textbook makes a card you recognise rather than one you can answer. Rephrasing it is the first round of learning the material.

Ask, don't list. Put a question or a term on the front and make yourself produce the answer before flipping. That effort to recall is what makes flashcards work, which is why active recall beats re-reading your notes.

Paper flashcards vs a flashcard app

Printed cards are great for a quick session, but they can't tell which ones you're about to forget, so you end up reviewing the easy cards as often as the hard ones. A spaced repetition app keeps track for you and shows each card right before you would forget it. Not sure how many to do at once? See how many flashcards to study per day.

Frequently asked questions

How do I format my notes?

Put one card per line, with the front and back separated by a tab, a dash, a colon or a comma, for example "Mitochondria - powerhouse of the cell". The separator is detected automatically, or you can pick one.

Can I bring in cards from a spreadsheet or another app?

Yes. Copy the two columns (front and back) from Excel or Google Sheets and paste them here: they arrive separated by tabs, which is detected automatically. Most flashcard apps can also export a set as text with a tab or comma between front and back, and that works too.

Do I need an account?

No. Making, printing and downloading flashcards works without an account, and your cards never leave your browser. You only need a free account if you want Space Repeat to schedule your reviews.

What can I do with the CSV file?

Open it in Excel or Google Sheets, or import it into Space Repeat or most other flashcard apps. It uses a simple Question,Answer format.
